What will it take to make New Mexico’s social sector more equitable, rooted in justice, and have a larger impact for communities? That is the question the social impact consulting firm Prospera Partners seeks to answer in early December 2024 at Disrupting the Path: A New Way Forward for New Mexico’s Social Sector.

Nonprofit staff, board members, and anyone else who works within the state’s social sector are invited to participate in one of four free conversations to not only discuss what isn’t working, but also talk about how to move forward in a way that tackles the dysfunction head-on. These sessions aren’t just for figureheads or spokespeople – those who don’t usually get invited to conversations like these are especially encouraged to attend. Individuals may sign up for one of the following:

Vicki Pozzebon, CEO of Prospera Partners says, “Since 2012 we have worked with dozens of nonprofit clients across New Mexico, facilitating over 300 participants in leadership workshops and programs. Over and over we hear clients say they are burnt out, frustrated, and tired of power holders not wanting to disrupt the status quo. So, we’ve decided to do something about it.”

Prospera Partners believes that a lack of a shared vision for what New Mexico’s social sector can be is a foundational reason for why more has not changed in the sector. Without a shared vision, nonprofits cannot collectively head in the same direction. As well, when there is no shared vision words and white papers get thrown around to solve problems but lack commitment to taking real action. These “disrupting” conversations are the first step in laying the groundwork for a new direction that will benefit all in the social sector.

Disrupting the Path: A New Way Forward for New Mexico’s Social Sector is sponsored by the Mind the Gap Fund with the support of the following event partners: Albuquerque Community Foundation, Eliza Kretzmann Consulting, Groundworks New Mexico, New Mexico Thrives, and Ripple Catalyst Studio.
