There needs to be less talking about the problems that nonprofits in New Mexico face, and more acting on solutions:
- We all know what isn’t working in the social sector.
- We all know what needs to change.
- No more white papers.
- No more words without action.
- Instead – we need real connection, real community, and real change.
That’s why we put together “A New Way for New Mexico Nonprofits.”
We totally get the irony in a white paper that says “we don’t need more white papers!” but this document is rooted in a desire to move beyond the traditional cycle of endless discussion. In our work, we see firsthand that the sector does not need more meetings to talk about solving problems; it needs immediate action.
This report combines years of research from organizations and institutions across New Mexico, as well as findings from the 2024–2025 “Disrupting the Path” conversation series, to propose a strategic path forward that is rooted in implementation, rather than just theory.
We believe that New Mexico’s nonprofit sector is incredibly well poised for enormous shifts, and to lead our country in taking steps in rebuilding the sector.
We know what needs to be done, and we provide evidence-based arguments for solutions.
